For the past two years Annie Heringer has been documenting the men and women who continue to race homing pigeons in New York City. It’s a tradition that’s been passed down from generation to generation in the city for over a century. Many people have no idea that people race pigeons up to 600 miles every spring and fall right here in NYC. But it's an important part of the city's cultural life, closely tied with its immigrant history and a way that urban populations have connected with natural life for decades.
The Pigeon Game is currently transitioning into the post-production phase. The crew has a critical opportunity to screen a twenty-minute clip of the film at the Tenement Museum's "Tenement Talks" series on Tuesday, August 24th. This event will be a great way to move the project forward, gathering more attention and ultimately finding finishing funds for the film.
