Over at Ars Technica an extensive article on possible developpements regarding the iPhone camera have been composed to an extensive article. The author not only puts a focus on hardware improvements, but also on software that could help iPhotographers taking better pictures.
One camera app for example that would improve taking photos in difficult light situations would could be the third-party app called Cortex Camera, which takes a series of pictures, and then merges them to one Super Resolution photo. Cortex Camera is already available for the iPhone 4GS - but the author speculates that it would be a good idea to have it as a built in app.
