Helsinki’s Wooden House Neighborhood Vallila
Oh sweet Vallila: a neighborhood of ‘traditional’ wooden houses of various sizes, different colors, green backyards – and some massive rocks in the middle of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood, a bit hidden behind some rather typical office and apartment buildings that were built in the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties, is one of the last Wooden House areas of Helsinki. With its little bar Pikku Vallila and some small shops nearby it feels like a small, very small town of its own. Although Vallila is located rather central, it can feel a bit disconnected from the lively pulse of Helsinki.
