A view on the Øresund Bridge by Night
When traveling up North to Sweden or Finland in the summer, I enjoy it a lot to cross the Øresund Bridge by car. Having the opportunity to cross this bridge, connecting Denmark and Sweden – or Europe and Scandinavia gives me goose bumps.
When coming from Denmark, you first enter a tunnel of apricimately 4km length which begins right next to the airport Copenhagen Kastrup. The tunnel basically ends in the middle of the Øresund on the artificial island Peberholm. From this point it’s anothe 10–12 kilometers above the ground – across the bridge.
The view from the bridge is just amazing. To the left and to the right you see the Öresund – you see sea – as far as you can see. Sweden is right in front of your – and slightly to the left you see the skyline of Malmö getting closer and closer. If I wasn’t driving the car, I would probably take photos during the entire crossing. It’s a bit of a shame that the passage comes with a price – but after my honest opinion the view, the time you save and the pure joy you may find on this special ride are worth it.
Since the completion of the bridge in summer 2000, a lot has changed in the Øresund area. Copenhagen and Malmö have come closer – and have grown together. Both cities are booming – at least in Malmö you can basically constantly see new housing projects beeing built, new residential areas evolving.
