Album: Berlin: Kreuzberg
Urbanhafen in Kreuzberg
A walk around the Urbanhafen in Berlin Kreuzberg – view from Baerwaldbrücke in east direction – on the right side in the picture you see the the Van Loon Restaurant Ship, right behind it the Urbankrankenhaus / Urban Hospital (‘Vivantes Klinikum Am Urban’), around it some swans in the evening light.
Landwehrkanal Berlin Kreuzberg
The Landwehrkanal in Berlin Kreuzberg on a cold but nice Saturday afternoon in February.
The photo is taken from the Hobrecht Bridge looking west. On the left side you can see the Maybachufer, on the right the Paul-Lincke-Ufer.
Urban Hospital / Urbanhafen Berlin Kreuzberg
View of the Urban Hospital at Urbanhafen in Berlin Kreuzberg. The photo was taken during a walk – a Landwehrkanal walk.
In September 2020 the corona numbers in Berlin were still halfway in the yellow range, but the corona crisis was still noticeable. Normally on such a mild Sunday evening, many, very many people stroll along the Landwehrkanal. The meadow in front of the Urban Hospital (Urbankrankenhaus) is usually pretty well occupied. On this evening, we only occasionally met other walkers, joggers, young parents with strollers.
Moritzplatz U-Bahn Station
The U-Bahn Station Moritzplatz by night, Berlin Kreuzberg.
Kreuzberg yard by night
It’s not really a typical Berlin backyard – but somehow it is a yard. And I was somehow taken with the colorful mix: a ping-pong table, benches, a shopping cart – and a column that looks like a candy cane.
Dog on Skateboard
We walked along the Light Border at the Engelbecken in Berlin Kreuzberg, when a dog on a skateboard came rolling towards us. He took a quick running start, jumped on the skateboard and rolled leisurely past us. For the dog, this seemed to be quite normal – for us it wasn’t.
Advertising Space / Street Art at Schönleinstrasse U-Bahn Station
These spaces in the Schönleinstrasse underground station were presumably meant to display advertising at some point. At the moment, however, there is obviously a disorganised interim use concept for the supposed advertising spaces: a colourful collage of stickers, tags and graffiti adorns the walls. Surprisingly, the artists confine themselves to the designated areas – and the collages are thus given a special setting. Or is the tidiness rather due to the zero tolerance of the cleaners, who rigorously remove everything that doesn’t belong there outside the frames designated for advertising?
Unfortunately the photos are a bit crappy – I only had my iPhone4 with me… Next time I’ll come with a proper camera.
Anhalter Bahnhof facade backside
A view to the backside of the ruin of Anhalter Bahnhof – or actually of the ruin of the facade of Anhalter Bahnhof, since nothing else is left.
Tempodrom, Soccer Field
The Tempodrom in the backlight, with dramatic cloud formations. In the foreground the sports field Anhalter Bahnhof or Lilli-Henoch-Sportplatz located between the Tempodrom and the remains of the Anhalter Bahnhof.
